St Johns Church

A community-focused Anglican church in the heart of Glebe.

St Johns is a unique gathering of believers and community members in an area that is diverse in race, socio-economic status, education, age, and prior exposure to church settings. Above all, they aim to be a gathering of family: helping each other, accepting, and compassionate.

As a non-profit, their brief was primarily to look updated, approachable, non-traditional. We first worked through empathizing and understanding the wide range of users in a UX workshop setting. User personas helped solidify who they are, their behaviours, and pain/gain points. The staff at St Johns felt aligned, empowered and excited at the conclusion of the workshop to be understanding who they were serving in their everyday jobs as well as for the design work to come.

From this knowledge base, a wide range of channels, events, branding exercises and signage have been developed.

During their UX workshop, we identified that St Johns is:

Traditional
yet Current

Diverse yet Unified

Small yet Broad

 Community Pillar yet Unassuming

 Accepting yet Against the trend

Directional yet Accessible

Product of Community yet Influencers

Core Values
